Track season is almost here and the athletes have already begun training for competitions to come.

“Last year, we came in third. We definitely are rebuilding this year and are excited to see what this season holds for us. We have a lot of talent on this team,” said Coach Armas.

This season brings new and old athletes ready to train and compete. However, the team is not without weaknesses. Coach Armas is looking to improve on fine-tuning strength and skill level for long jump, triple jump, high jump, shot put and discus.

This year, Coach Armas expects to increase the level of fitness of each athlete so that they can compete to the highest level that their abilities and worth ethics allow.

“I expect to see a lot of improvement from the whole team, and also individuals,” said junior runner Daniel Alcocer.

Coach Armas stated that much of the team’s strength lies in the following athletes.
Sprinters: Christian Cabral (11), Benny Trac (12)
Middle Distance: Manuel Fernandez(12), Dino Ramirez (10), Joshua Hernandez (10), Vanessa Monrreal (12),
Hurdles: Christian Tovar (12), Matthew Barky (11), Daniel Alcocer (11)

One of the leading sprinters is senior Benny Trac, a third year track member. His determination to improve and succeed has been essential to the team, as he’s greatly influenced lead sprinter, Christian Cabral.

After suffering from a severe groin injury, Trac has made a comeback during the track season. In spite of this difficulty, Trac continues to push himself to his limits.
