Lights, camera, action- Bassett High School students are producing their own film. Bassett Think Together is partnering with Unleashing Giants to administer this program. Students are fully engaged in the process, as they were able to pick their own position in the crew, whether it be the writer of the script or the camera operator. The movie is even having its own premier at the local Edwards theatre on with a spectacular red carpet event. Students involved in this film are encouraged to invite their friends and family to this exciting event.

At the red carpet event the student actors, writers, and production team will be interviewed and there will also be press and celebrity appearances, as the event will be as realistic as possible.

Adrian Arvizu, Think Together Site Facilitator, says that through this program “students will be able to realize that they can tap into reaching their full potential.”

Arvizu is thrilled about the film production as he adds, “My favorite part of this program is seeing Bassett students have fun and take ownership of their work, as well as viewing the end product.” Unleashing Giants first launched in 2012.

Although, it is Unleashing Giants’ first time making a film with high school students, as they previously have only worked with elementary and middle school students. The program is eight weeks in total, every Tuesday and Thursday. Students dedicate their time to the program after school from 3:30-5:00P.M. The program has even sponsored their own “Family Day” to have students display to their family about the overall contribution they are making to this project.

Emil Pinnock, founder of Unleashing Giants, started this company to give students the opportunity to express their creativity. Pinnock states, “ My overall favorite part of this program is meeting the students. Unleashing Giants is not only a film program, but also a youth development program. Through our program, students gain life skills that they will use wherever they go.”

The anticipated movie premier will be shown on the big screen on December 15th, as the students strive to reach finalized film.
