On November 22nd, the Interact Club provided a warmer holiday experience to needy families within the Bassett community by personally delivering 300 Thanksgiving gift baskets directly to residents’ homes.
The morning of the event, dozens of Interact members gathered at the Old Valley warehouse in La Puente to fill 300 large laundry baskets with everything from canned and packaged foods and snacks to basic supplies such as toothbrushes. After all gift baskets were packed they were loaded onto the vans and trucks of Interact Rotarians and other Interact volunteer members to be delivered. The fire department also participated in this event as they loaded a majority of the baskets onto their fire trucks to deliver to the needy families.
Volunteers who participated in the delivering process expressed the families’ gratitude towards to gift baskets and their appreciation for the services. Ms. Acosta, the supervisor of the Interact Club, emphasized the significance of this event was and how important it was to participate in events such as the can and toy drives at our school. Small contributions that may seem insignificant to you may mean the world to someone else.
