The Good Dinosaur (November 23) – The dinosaur apocalypse never happened and Arlo the Apatosaurus is separated from his family. On his way home, he encounters a human boy, who he adopts and names Spot. This one’s going to be another Pixar tearjerker – according to Wired.com, a clip shown at this year’s D23 Expo shows Arlo bonding with Spot over the word “family,” in which Arlo sets up a series of sticks to represent his family members. Spot sets up his own sticks – and knocks them over, burying them to signify his family’s deaths. “We’re outing everything we have into making and adventurous and emotional story,” says director Peter Sohn.

Moana (November 23) – Disney’s recent trend of strong leading ladies continues with its first Polynesian princess, Moana (Hawaiian for “ocean”). Inspired by her ancestors’ legendary sea voyages, Moana takes up her own sea adventure to continue their legacy. “The whole idea of voyaging wasn’t in our initial story. And then we learned what a source of pride it was for [Pacific Islanders], that they were the world’s first great navigators… We wanted to celebrate that,” says the Moana team. Dwayne Johnson will voice oceanic demigod Maui, who accompanies Moana out to sea.

Toy Story 4 (June 16, 2018) – The last Toy Story instalment seemingly ended the beloved franchise on a bittersweet note. In a way, the original story has ended, as Toy Story 4 will focus on a new plot entirely – a love story between Woody and Bo Peep. “It’s a very touching story that’s inspired by my love for my wife,” says director John Lasseter. The original characters and voice actors will return – Tom Hanks as Woody, Tim Allen as Buzz Lightyear – and Annie Potts, who was absent in the third film, reprises her role as Bo Peep.
