New year, new classes! As this school year is coming to an end, Bassett is adding new classes to the 2016-2017 school year for all remaining and incoming students.

Freshmen should expect to have two new AP classes: AP Environmental Science and AP Human Geography and the opportunity to discuss career plans in the new college and career seminar.

Incoming freshmen are required to take an Ethnic Studies class and learn about ethnicity, sexuality, and gender as a requirement to graduate. This will be a semester long course that will be paired with a study skills class.

Algebra 2 will no longer be offered; instead, Bassett will be offering an Integrated Math 3 course. This change intends to provide students with a deeper understanding of math concepts through collaboration and communication.

Nonetheless, Bassett will be offering a pre-engineering class for students seeking math related jobs.

Seniors will have the opportunity to take AVID their final year in high school with an AVID 12 class added for next year.

Registration began, March 7th and will continue for one more week at both Torch and Edgewood. At the high school, registration begins just before spring break.

The addition of new classes and graduation requirements will take effect the next school year, 2016-2017, and the new classes will be available for all incoming freshmen, the class of 2020.
