The season started off with bang. The boys basketball team had a pre-season tournament against El Monte and Sierra Vista High School. Both times the boys came out victorious, giving the boys the confidence they need to start the season at top.

The key contributors to the team are Captain Salvador Santos (12), Jason Pico (11), and Carlos Perez (10).

Although, the boys have lost a key member to the team, long time head Coach Brian Prieto, has stepped down from the position but, there’s still a bright future ahead for this young and powerful team with brand new head Coach Rick Rodabaugh at the helm.

He has 23 years of coaching experience in Basketball, this is his fourth high school.

The past four seasons he coached at Walnut High School with two back to back league titles and CIF appearances.

Coach Rick’s four years at Walnut High School ended and he wanted to teach his fun and energetic style of basketball somewhere else. Along came Bassett High School Basketball when the spot was open he took it.

Rodabaugh said, “The team is going to bring a lot energy when playing hard on the court with good fundamentals while entertaining the crowd.”
