Guided by a new coach, our soccer boys are approaching the season with confidence and boldness.

Captain Ernie Cuevas(11) says “ Our new coach, Charlie Gomez, puts a lot of effort into coaching us and really knows how to motivate the team.”

Varsity teammate, Uri Luquin (12) says “ We should be able to win league and I believe we have potential of going to CIF.”

Having a new coach can be difficult at times, however, the boys soccer team are taking the transition sufficiently. The boys are closely knit, and seem to all have the same goal. They all want a good season.

Luquin (12) says “ I think Ernie (11) is the perfect fit for captain because he’s talented, he has moves, and he’s probably the only person in our team that we can all take constructive criticism from. When it comes to soccer, he knows what he’s talking about.”

Recently, the team scrimmaged against Mountain View, whom they beat, and lost the game to opposing team, Los Altos. Cuevas (11) reminds us that it’s all about learning, “ We’re just testing every player out, we want to see what position would fit them best. Once we figure out the team’s strengths, we’ll be able to put them to use and take on league.”

The boys are optimistic about the up coming season and look forward to many more wins.

Expect good news from our soccer boys, Olympians. Winter season is here, and it looks like we have a winning team.
