Olys Take Time to Give Back

Sebastian Aguero, Staff Writer

‘Tis the season for giving. For Bassett High School, it is time to give back to the community. This holiday, Mrs. Henderson is running the Canned Food Drive. A food drive is a form of charity that is conducted by a group of individuals to stockpile and distribute food to people or communities who can- not afford it. In this case, the food supply is canned foods donated to local Bassett families.

However, this isn’t the only effort Bassett is attempting at for giving back to our community. The local Ecology club, ran by Ms. Gomez, goes on scheduled trips and spends their time cleaning up the local beaches within our area.

ASB is teaming up with Think Together Thursday at 6 pm for the Reading Wonderland inthe library. Bassett students K-3 are invited for an evening of crafts, books, Santa and treats with the high school students mentoring the little ones.

NHS is hosting a toy drive for needy children and families in the community. There’s still time for all students to contribute an unwrapped to this community effort. Student interested in helping NHS need only to bring their toys to Ms. Neri in room 509.
