Volleyball Jumps Back Into The Season

Volleyball Jumps Back Into The Season

The volleyball team had a rocky start with different views disconnecting the team and causing the team to not play at their best capacity, but in the end the girls came together. They started playing together as a team and not individually. Even though the team lost some great players, they still have six returners. “We have to win all or most of our league games to make it into CIF, if we do make it I want to be at least in the third round,” Coach Rudy Alvarez said. In their first league game against rival school the La Puente warriors, the girls won with a score of 25 to 15 coming close to almost losing, but pulling through in the end. Their next game against the Pomona Red Devils was rescheduled due to a swinging light, but that didn’t stop the team from practicing twice as hard. “It shouldn’t have been such a big problem. I was looking forward to that game, they are a good challenge,” said senior Brenda Martinez. Despite all the team’s different opinions of the other girls, they kept it strictly professional on the court. They are currently undefeated in league games and let’s hope they are undefeated for the whole season and accomplish coach Rudy’s expectations. They will make it to CIF and hopefully go beyond. They know their own strengths and weaknesses. They truly have proven themselves worthy of being on the varsity volleyball team.
