The school’s marching band placed third place in the Azusa’s Golden Days Parade that took place Saturday, October 14th.

Bassett placed with a score of 83.10.

This is the first time in four years that the band has placed in their first parade of the year.

“I honestly wasn’t expecting to place. We usually leave in fourth place for our first parade of competition,” says senior and four-year marching band veteran, Jennifer Ascencion.

Marching drum major, Miguel Bravo (11), placed 4th, with a total of 81.5. Bravo has surpassed the past drum majors in the last three years by scoring significantly higher.

“I’m glad to see the scores go up in regards to our prior years. I am proud of the band placing in the first parade of the year,” says band director Mr. Gutierrez.

The band practices every Monday and Wednesday from 5-9.

The next big performance for the band will be senior night or the last home football game. They will be performing their tribute to Led Zeppelin field show.
