Marvel has released its highly anticipated movie Black Panther, which is already predicted to be one of Marvel’s most successful opening weekends to date.

Black Panther is said to take place right after the previous happenings of Captain America: Civil, which is where Black Panther was introduced into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The movie is said to start with T’Challa returning to his home of Wakanda, while having to deal with his father’s death, and having to balance being Black Panther and the new King of Wakanda.

The Black Panther cast is jam packed with a star studded cast filled with award winning actors. Reprising his role as Black Panther (alias King T’Challa) is Chadwick Boseman. His on screen family will consist of his stepmother Ramonda, played by Angela Bassett, and his sister Shuri being brought to life by Letitia Wright.

The two main antagonists of the film are M’Baku and Erik Killmonger played by Winston Duke and Michael B. Jordan.Other characters include T’Challa’s advisor Zuri, Milaje members Nakia and Okoye, & T’Challa’s second in command W’kabi all played by Forest Whitaker, Lupita Nyong’o Danai Gurira, and Daniel Kaluuya. These actors have received nothing but praise for their portrayal of Black Panther and his counter parts.

Black Panther is said to be a movie that will be a very empowering motivation for African Americans around the world. Fans of Marvel comics are eagerly anticipating the release of this movie. Early reactions from those who were lucky enough to see Marvel’s Black Panther more than two weeks early have been very positive. Most comments will contain high praise for the costumes, setting, or the interpretation of Wakanda altogether, and they’re not wrong.

“I like the culture they show in the movie and the progression with Black Panther himself since Civil War.” – James Perez (12)

There has been so many genius additions that have been put into this movie. Starting with the filming locations to bring the country of Wakanda to life. Filming was shot in two different locations: Atlanta, Georgia and Busan, South Korea with aerial shots being filmed in Argentina, Brazil, South Africa, Zambia and Uganda. One of these locations is particularly more special than the others.

Black Panther is being filmed in the Pinewoods studios in Atlanta where Other Marvel masterpieces have all held production such as Ant-Man and its upcoming sequel, Captain America: Civil War, Guardians of the Galaxy Volume ll, and Spider-man: Homecoming. With all these movies being quite successful at the box office, it seems that there are high hopes for this movie.

“I’m excited to see a new character introduced into the MCU who is different from the rest of the main Marvel heroes.”- Eliana Torres (11)

Another notable element to Black Panther is the fashion that was created for the country of Wakanda. The costume designer for this anticipated hit is Ruth E. Carter, and one word to describe this woman is “genius”.

Carter had to create a style for a fictional country based on ancient African wardrobe with a futuristic flare. To capture the look of Wakanda Carter looked at styles from Ancient African tribes and incorporated bold colors along with gold and silver for what we will see in the movie.

Black Panther’s release is filled with high hopes and is looking to be one of Marvel’s biggest box office successes. It will really please veteran fans and will give the new fans an incredible.
