Ryan Reynolds is the voice of Pikachu, a world-class detective. Tim Goodman, played by Justice Smith, allows Pikachu to help him find out what happened to his father, and is a former Pokèmon trainer.

A new view on the Pokèmon universe has grabbed the attention of many Pokèmon fans being the first live-action movie for the franchise. The movie is a PG rated movie, meant to be enjoyed by the entire family.

“I’m really excited to see Pikachu and other Pokémon in CGI. It’s definitely different from how other Pokémon movies have been portrayed. I’m mostly excited for Pikachu’s comedic side, which has been seen in the trailers,” exclaims Brenda Tuchez (11).

Detective Pikachu doesn’t necessarily follow the story of a Pokèmon trainer, as the trailers reveal that Tim is no longer interested in being a trainer. The movie does however does seem to portray a different appeal. Having Pikachu talk through the movie, along with being a detective, is amazing.

From the trailers, it is evident that Pikachu will be the comedic one in the duo, as well as being obsessed with coffee. The partnership between Tim and Pikachu is different for both of them, so it will be interesting to see how they work together.

Detective Pikachu almost has a Who Framed Roger Rabbit type of feel to it being a detective movie with “cartoon,” or in this case, CGI characters, and of course comedy, so it’s definitely worth seeing if you enjoyed Who Framed Roger Rabbit.

This movie is definitely a must for any Pokémon fans out there. Pokémon Detective Pikachu will allow the viewer to see the world from Pikachu’s view thanks to Ryan Reynolds, as well enjoy a few jokes.
