The DC universe has brought us amazing entertainment throughout the years. They have also brought us one of the most legendary rivalries of all time; Batman vs Joker. Thanks to the psychotic murderous villain known as Joker, we were introduced to one of the funniest most lovable characters of the DC universe; Harley Quinn.
The Joker and Harley were introduced to us as a maniacal couple who opposed Batman in the 90’s Batman animated series. Harley was also Joker’s side kick of sorts as she was constantly abused both physically and mentally by the clown. Suppressed when she achieved independence, the DC Universe spinoff series finds a self-reliant heroine in “Harley Quinn.”
In Harley Quinn’s new series, Harley is ex-Joker, after being abandoned by him at Arkham prison for over a year. After breaking out, she moves in with her best-friend, Poison Ivy and begins plans to become one of Gotham’s most infamous villains by creating the Legion of Doom.
The R rated series revolves around Harley and her new little band of low level villains (all male). The only powerful feminine influence Harley has is from Poison Ivy herself who orchestrated Harley’s escape from Arkham. Despite Poison Ivy’s support and advice (she was also the one who told Harley over and over that the Joker wasn’t good for her). Poison Ivy works alone in this spinoff and refused to be a part of Harley’s band of misfits.
Mia Espinoza claimed,” I didn’t know there was going to be this new series. I’ve never really been a fan of DC. I did see the ‘Suicide Squad’ movie and liked how Harley was portrayed. Maybe I’ll watch the new series once the entire first season finishes airing.”
Ashley Gomez said, “I’ve always been a fan of the DC universe. I always watched the Batman movies and I think even one of the series when I was younger. I had heard about the new Harley Quinn TV show, but I wasn’t really interested since I thought it would be one of those bad remakes, but I might watch it later.”
The new Harley Quinn TV series is underrated, but is sure to soon become one of DC’s biggest hits.
